Fashion entrepreneur, Osebo The Zaraman has disclosed that he worked a series of manual jobs in Ghana before travelling abroad in search of capital to build a business.
Speaking in the Big Conversation segment of 3Music TV’s Culture Daily morning show Osebo reflected on his early struggles before becoming one of Ghana’s most recognisable fashion figures.
He said he worked as a truck pusher in Suhum and sold products including ice cream and yogurt to earn a living.
“I was a truck pusher. I sold ice water, yoghurt and ice cream,” he said.
Osebo also recalled helping to fill potholes on roads to earn extra income.
According to him, his goal was always to raise enough money and experience to establish a business in Ghana.
He later travelled to Italy in the early 1990s.
“I travelled to Italy to look for capital so that I could come back and establish my own business,” he said.
After years abroad, he returned to Ghana and gradually transitioned from music into fashion retail.
He said his first boutique began with a modest inventory of just 10 pairs of shoes, 15 belts, a few T-shirts and several pairs of jeans.
Over time, the business grew through word-of-mouth recommendations and a reputation for selling original designer products.
Osebo said passion has been central to his success.
“You don’t go into business because of money alone. You need to have passion for what you are doing,” he said.
Today, he runs his own fashion line, which includes shoes, T-shirts, and kaftans.
