US pop sensation Ariana Grande asked that the White House refrain from using her song in a social media video endorsing its immigration policies.
Grande's 2024 hit track Bye was used as the soundtrack for the TikTok reel that was posted on Monday, in which border guards were seen handcuffing people.
Commenting on the post, Grande said, "Please do not use my music in relation to this barbaric, inhumane, heinous nonsense."
White House spokesperson, Abigail Jackson responded to Grande by telling US reporters, "What's actually barbaric, inhumane, and heinous are the criminal illegal aliens who have injured and murdered innocent American citizens."
The White House video was released following Donald Trump's signing of a bill authorising more than $70 billion in financing for immigration agencies for the final two and a half years of his presidency.
Officers can be seen in the video handcuffing individuals, escorting them into vehicles, and eventually putting them in detention facilities.
The video was muted and Grande's comment was deleted when she responded to the post.
A number of individuals commented on the page, pointing out that Grande's comment was missing and the sound had been muted.
