Former striker for Sweden, Zlatan Ibrahimović believes Ghana's Black Stars could be a surprise in Group L of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He believes the four-time African champions are capable of challenging Croatia and England.
Zlatan chose Group L as the most thrilling group to watch while discussing the World Cup groupings on Fox Sports, emphasising Ghana's potential to challenge the status quo.
Ghana has been placed with England, Croatia, and Panama in one of the competition's most difficult groups.
Zlatan thinks Ghana has enough talent to affect the group standings, even if Croatia and England are the favourites to advance.
“I will like to choose Group L. Unfortunately Panama will be a punching bag and Croatia and England will fight for the first spot. Ghana might disturb them and take some points but I don't see Panama,” Ibrahimović said.
The Black Stars should never be undervalued, according to Ghana's World Cup history.
In 2022, the Black Stars defeated South Korea and almost shocked Portugal.
Ghana advanced to the 2010 World Cup quarterfinals in South Africa.
While many still consider Croatia and England to be the favourites to qualify, Zlatan's comments contribute to the growing international recognition of Ghana's potential threat.
