South Africa Must Go Protest Hits MTN Ghana
MTN Ghana Ghana

A group of Ghanaians gathered earlier today in Accra to stage a demonstration against South African telecommunications company, MTN over what they describe as unfair treatment to their customers.

The protest began on the streets of Accra and moved to the MTN head office where they were blocked by police officers.

The group claim that the telecom company defied directives by authorities to halt planned taxing of Wallet-to-Bank transfers.

One protester called the company a scam and urged the Bank of Ghana to begin investigations into MTN.

“MTN Ghana are thieves, they are scamming Ghanaians. We are calling on the Bank of Ghana to take action against them," the unnamed protester said.

The demonstration is dubbed South Africa Must Go and has roots connected to the recent xenophobic attacks on some Ghanaians in South Africa and subsequent evacuation by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
