Ghanaian musician Fancy Gadam has publicly criticised the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) after receiving a royalty payment of GHS 123.82, an amount he describes as grossly unfair considering his years of work in the music industry.

The TOTAL CHEAT hitmaker expressed disappointment over the valuation of music in Ghana, questioning how royalties are calculated and distributed to artistes. According to Fancy Gadam, the amount does not reflect the impact, reach and consistent airplay of his songs over the years, especially given his popularity in the northern region and beyond.





He further lamented that such payments discourage creativity and sustainability in the industry, stressing that musicians invest heavily in production, promotion and performances, yet receive very little in return from royalty collections.

Fancy Gadam’s comments have reignited conversations on social media about transparency, accountability and fairness in Ghana’s music royalty system. Many industry players and fans have shared similar concerns, calling for reforms within GHAMRO to ensure artistes are adequately compensated for the use of their works.

As of now, GHAMRO has not officially responded to Fancy Gadam’s claims, but the issue has added to growing pressure on the organisation to review its royalty distribution framework and rebuild trust with musicians across the country.
