Headless YouTuber Returns To Music
Headless YouTuber

Before Headless YouTuber became famous, he was known simply as Kula. A rapper, creative and radio personality who spent over a decade navigating Ghana’s music and media space, long before his voice became one of the most recognisable in digital pop-culture commentary.

Now, years after stepping away from music and reinventing himself online, Kula is preparing to release music in 2026, not as a comeback but as a personal decision to finally share work he has been holding on to.

In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote: “2026, Kula will be dropping music for the culture. No need hoarding these songs.”

Speaking in an exclusive conversation with 3Music TV, Kula clarified the intention behind the announcement, stressing that the release should not be interpreted as a return to the music industry, but rather as a release of long-stored creative work.

“I’ve been sitting on an EP and some unreleased songs for some time now”, he stated. “A lot of people have been telling me for some time now that since I’ve revealed my identity, I should just drop some music,” he said.

He explained that the final push came unexpectedly over the weekend, when DJs, NYDJ and DJ Kaxtro heard some of his unreleased songs.

“They heard some of my unreleased songs and then they also added their voice to the lot, and that's what informed this decision,” he revealed.

Kula was deliberate in explaining what he meant by releasing music “for the culture,” distancing himself from commercial expectations or chart ambitions.

“When I say for the culture, I'm just dropping the music for the people to listen to”, he explained.

“I’m not focused on getting a mainstream hit or chasing a hit song.”

According to him, the release is primarily for listeners who have followed his music from the beginning. “This is for the people who have been listening to my songs for a long time, so they’ll just have something new to listen to.”

Kula was firm in addressing speculation about a full return to music.

“This is not a comeback for Kula. I’m still a retired musician. I’m just putting out songs because I’ve been hoarding them,” he stated.

“If I hoard them, I get nothing. Let me just put it out so people who appreciate the craft can enjoy some new music.”

The songs set for release date back several years, with some recorded as far back as 2019 and the most recent recordings done in 2020. “Some of the songs are six years old, hitting seven years in 2026,” he noted.

He also hinted at a sonic shift, explaining that he was in the process of changing his sound when the music was recorded.

“It won’t be the usual Kula storytelling or funny rap people know. It’s something a little different.”

While fans are eager, Kula urged listeners to approach the release without heavy expectations.

“Don’t keep your hopes too high. It’s just music I’m putting out,” he said. “Please just enjoy whatever I put out.”

As anticipation builds toward 2026, Kula’s story stands as one of evolution rather than return.
