Ghanaian musician, Fameye, has opened up about his creative process, global ambitions and the evolving sound of his music, revealing that his upcoming project is deeply rooted in growth, spirituality and elevation.

Speaking during an interview on PLUZZ 89.9 FM, the PRIASE hitmaker shared insights into how travel, life experiences and intentional artistry are shaping his next body of work.

Fameye explained that much of his upcoming album was recorded while travelling, particularly across Europe, where he draws inspiration from new environments and diverse audiences.

“When I’m moving on a train or in a different country, the inspiration is crazy,” he said. “You meet new people, experience new things and it reflects in the music.”

He also noted that international audiences often react differently to his music compared to listeners back home, something that continues to influence how he tests and refines his sound before release.

Despite revealing that the album has been done multiple times, Fameye admitted he keeps revisiting and reworking the project.

“I’ve been done like 20 times, but I keep swapping songs. You go to the studio and feel like the new one is better, so you change it again,” he said.

With increased expectations from fans and the fact that the project is self-funded under his label, Famille Worldwide, the artiste says he feels a strong responsibility to deliver a near-perfect body of work.

One of the standout revelations from the interview was Fameye’s introduction of a new sound he calls “High-Pop.”

Describing it as a fusion of Highlife and Afro-pop elements, he explained:

“My Highlife has more pop in it. I’m not running away from Highlife, I’m adding new ingredients to it.”

The artiste emphasized that this direction is intentional, aimed at modernising Ghanaian Highlife while maintaining its authenticity.

Fameye also addressed the growing global appreciation for Ghanaian Highlife music, particularly among diaspora audiences.

He pointed out that artistes like Kofi Kinaata, Akwaboah and Amakye Dede continue to receive strong support abroad, sometimes even more than at home.

According to him, there is a need for a collective industry effort from artistes to media and stakeholders to fully push Ghanaian Highlife onto the global stage.

Fameye also spoke about his single TRAVELER, describing it as a deeply personal record inspired by his experiences abroad.

The song captures the realities of life outside Ghana, including the struggles and sacrifices many endure.

“People are working so hard out there even in the cold, they are sweating,” he noted.

While he hinted that TRAVELER may not necessarily make the album, he described it as a “special song” that reflects a broader story of migration, identity and personal growth.

Touching on the balance between artistry and commercial success, Fameye acknowledged the pressure artistes face to create mainstream hits.

Although he could not confirm a release date for the album, Fameye assured fans that the project will reflect his journey, growth and artistic evolution.

With a refined sound, a global outlook and a commitment to authenticity, the artiste appears poised to further cement his place as one of Ghana’s most distinctive voices.
