Nollywood superstar Funke Akindele has once again proven her box office power as her latest film, BEHIND THE SCENES, records a historic opening weekend across multiple territories.

In Nigeria, BEHIND THE SCENES delivered the biggest opening weekend of 2025, grossing over ₦200 million, making it the first Nollywood film this year to cross the ₦200m mark in its opening days. The film also pulled in 34,548 admissions, the highest weekend admissions recorded in 2025 so far, further cementing its dominance at the local box office. With this feat, the movie makes Funke Akindele a five-time box office opening weekend record holder, an unprecedented milestone.








The success was not limited to Nigeria. In the United Kingdom and Ireland, BEHIND THE SCENES recorded the biggest Nollywood opening weekend ever in those territories, earning £42,000, including advance screenings. This international performance highlights the growing global appeal of Nollywood films and the strong diaspora support for African storytelling.

Industry observers have credited the film’s success to its star-studded cast, compelling storyline, strategic marketing and Funke Akindele’s consistent track record of delivering audience-friendly blockbusters. Distributed by FilmOne Entertainment and produced under the Funke Akindele Network (FAAN), the film continues to enjoy strong cinema attendance nationwide and abroad.
