The Deputy CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Abeiku Santana, has dismissed claims that the authority was involved in the recent jollof rice tasting that sparked a viral debate, ultimately leading to Nigeria being declared the winner.
Speaking on the matter, Santana clarified, “GTA is not responsible for his plan, so I don’t know who cooked the jollof.”
The controversy emerged after popular YouTuber iShowSpeed sampled jollof rice during his visit to Ghana, prompting online discussions comparing Ghanaian and Nigerian versions of the dish. Despite expectations that GTA might have played a role in the arrangement, Santana confirmed the authority had no involvement in organizing the tasting.
The statement effectively removes GTA from the center of the viral food debate, leaving fans and culinary enthusiasts speculating about who actually prepared the jollof rice that captured the internet’s attention.
