Metro Boomin Faces Civil Rape Trial Over 2016 Allegations
Metro Boomin

Grammy-nominated hip-hop producer Metro Boomin, born Leland Tyler Wayne, is set to face a civil rape trial starting September 23, 2025, in Los Angeles federal court, following failed settlement talks with plaintiff Vanessa LeMaistre. LeMaistre’s 2024 lawsuit alleges that in September 2016, she blacked out after consuming alcohol and half a Xanax at Metro’s California recording studio, waking to find him sexually assaulting her in a Beverly Hills hotel room, unable to consent. She claims the assault resulted in a pregnancy, which she terminated in November 2016, and points to lyrics in Metro’s 2017 track RAP SAVED ME, featuring 21 Savage, Offset, and Quavo, as referencing the incident: “She took a Xanny, then she fainted / I’m from the gutter, ain’t no changing.” Metro’s attorney, Lawrence Hinkle II, has called the lawsuit a “pure shakedown,” denying the allegations and asserting the encounter was consensual.

The lawsuit, filed in October 2024, details LeMaistre’s initial friendship with Metro, formed in Las Vegas after the death of her nine-month-old son, bonding over music’s healing power. Despite mediation attempts in July 2025 with a retired judge, both parties failed to reach an agreement, as confirmed in a joint status report filed August 11, 2025. LeMaistre’s attorney, Michael J. Willemin, stated she is eager to present her case to a jury, while Metro’s team plans to file a malicious prosecution claim if victorious. The trial follows Metro’s 2024 successes, including chart-topping albums WE DON’T TRUST YOU and WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU with Future, but has sparked heated discussion on X, with fans divided over the allegations’ validity. LeMaistre seeks unspecified damages for sexual battery and emotional distress.
