“My Music Is Made for Your Subconscious” — Enam on Spirituality And Reprogramming Through Sound
Enam

Ghanaian artiste Enam isn’t just making music; she’s crafting a spiritual and cultural awakening.

In a deeply introspective conversation with the Culture Squad, Enam opened up about her purpose, her journey and the philosophy that drives her artistry.

For Enam, music is not about trends or charts, it’s about returning to the origin. “My real purpose is to make music which was made back in the days.”

Her sound draws from ancestral influence, echoing rhythms and messages that predate modern industry expectations.

Enam sees her work as more than entertainment but transformational. “My message is to reprogram you into your real self… my music is made for your subconscious.”

This perspective places her music in a space where sound becomes a tool for healing, reflection and awakening.

She also speaks boldly about identity and African history.

“Nobody can tell me they brought civilisation to Africa because we were before they were.”

It’s a strong assertion of cultural pride and a rejection of colonial narratives. Themes that often underpin her artistry.

Her journey was shaped by a deeper awareness of the world around her.“What convinced me to get on this path was environmental degradation… all the waters are bad, all the spirits are sad.”

This connection between nature, spirituality and humanity is central to her message.

Enam’s worldview extends into the metaphysical. “We are our ancestors, we just went to change our bodies and came back.”

It’s a belief system that ties identity, existence and purpose into a continuous cycle of life.

She also shared a deeply personal part of her story, being born with twelve toes and facing social isolation.

“I was born with twelve toes… people didn’t let their children play with me.”

An experience that, rather than break her, shaped her understanding of self and difference.

For Enam, identity is holistic. “Whatever you are physically is who you are spiritually.”

It’s a philosophy that ties the body, spirit and purpose into one unified existence.

Enam’s artistry sits at the intersection of sound, spirituality and social consciousness.

Her work challenges listeners to go beyond the surface to question, to reconnect and ultimately, to rediscover themselves.
