Nicki Minaj has achieved yet another record-breaking milestone with her fifth studio album, Pink Friday 2, officially debuting at the pinnacle of Billboard's Hot 200 Albums chart. The publication's ranking for the week ending December 14 unveiled that the album closed its first week with an impressive 228,000 equivalent album units in the U.S., making it Nicki's third No. 1 album and the most earned by any female rapper.

The significance of this accomplishment extends further, as Pink Friday 2 now holds the record for the highest album equivalent units sold for a Hip Hop/R&B album by a woman in 2023 and the most sold by any female rapper in the 2020s. Notably, the album also secured the distinction of the most vinyl copies sold by a woman rapper since data analytics firm Luminate began tracking figures in 1991, with 25,000 vinyl copies sold.

This remarkable feat comes amidst Nicki Minaj breaking ties and setting new standards. Surpassing Foxy Brown, Nicki's third No. 1 album establishes her as the first female rapper to top the Billboard Hot 200 in two different decades.

However, the celebration is not without its share of controversy. In a recent Twitter tirade, Nicki called out Billboard for allegedly threatening to "take sales away" due to a fan contest related to her album. The rapper expressed frustration over what she perceived as arbitrary enforcement of rules, emphasizing her commitment to her fanbase and her defiance against external pressures.

As Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday 2 continues to make waves in the music industry, the artist remains unapologetic in her pursuit of success, addressing challenges and accolades alike with her signature outspoken style.
