Oliver Twist Shack Teams Up with Akwaaba UK for the BIG COOKOUT in Accra
The Biggest Cookout

The love for food, music and good company takes centre stage this November as Oliver Twist Shack partners with Akwaaba UK for the BIG COOKOUT. A thrilling Jollof-themed hangout experience celebrating Ghanaian cuisine and camaraderie.

Appearing on Culture Daily’s: Morning Bite, co-founder of Oliver Twist Shack, Theodore Foyoo, joined the hosts to share details about the upcoming event, which he described as a “celebration of food, friendship and good vibes.”

The BIG COOKOUT will take place on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at Corks Lounge in Osu (behind Koala) with gates opening from 12 noon, right after church. The event promises endless bowls of Jollof, live music and a relaxed, feel-good atmosphere for food lovers and squads looking for a perfect Sunday hangout.

“It’s the Jollof Hangout Party,” Foyoo explained. “The base is Jollof but we’re giving everyone the freedom to make it their own. You can have Jollof with pork, goat, turkey, macaroni, salad, whatever your squad is feeling that day.”

The collaboration was inspired by Akwaaba UK CEO Dennis, who discovered Oliver Twist’s food through a Bolt delivery and instantly fell in love with their Jollof.

“He said it was the best Jollof he’d had in a long time,” Foyoo recalled. “He even froze some to take back to the UK. That connection is what birthed this collaboration.”

Originally a small food collective called Jollof Gangsters, Oliver Twist Shack has evolved into one of Accra’s most loved food and lifestyle spaces, a go-to destination in Lartebiokorshie and Tsa Addo, known for its signature Jollof, grilled meats, and chill ambience.

The BIG COOKOUT will feature DJ Wallpaper and DJ Lord spinning live sets, with Chef It Up as a partner, serving up creative plates and interactive cooking sessions. Attendees can also look forward to board games, group dining experiences and the chance to create their own “bowl combos” in true Ghanaian style.

“We want people to come, eat together, vibe together and just enjoy the experience,” Foyoo said. “It’s free entry, you just buy what you eat. Whether you come solo or with your gang, there’s something for everyone.”

The Culture Daily hosts couldn’t hide their excitement, joking about Jollof combinations, school food memories and the eternal Ghanaian struggle with dieting.

So, mark your calendars. Sunday, November 9 at Corks Lounge, Osu. The BIG COOKOUT promises an unforgettable mix of food, laughter and live music. Celebrating Ghana’s favourite meal in grand style.
