Ghanaian singer and songwriter Camidoh has opened up about his time away from the spotlight, revealing the personal challenges and difficult choices that led to his temporary break from music.

Speaking in an honest conversation on the Sincerely Accra podcast with host Joseph Nti, the SUGARCANE hitmaker explained that his absence wasn’t planned but rather a necessary pause brought on by life’s realities and emotional strain.

“When you hit the big time, people expect you to keep going, but sometimes you just can’t do it alone,” Camidoh shared. “You need help and when you don’t have it, it gets overwhelming. You’re doing everything, but at some point, you break down.”

He went on to reveal that family matters also played a major role in his decision to step back. “It almost seemed like I was being selfish, like I was prioritising my career over everything else. But I had to understand that to take care of them, I needed to make this work,” he said.

Camidoh emphasised the importance of family as the true support system in any artiste’s journey. “Your family is your backbone. If anything happens to you, they’re the ones who will be there. So, I had to really take a pause and fix things,” he reflected.

When asked if he had a plan for how long he would be away, the artiste admitted there wasn’t one. “I didn’t have a plan,” he said plainly. “Life would happen.”

Camidoh’s candidness offers fans a deeper understanding of the man behind the music a reminder that even those in the limelight face moments of vulnerability and sometimes need to step back to rebuild.
