At the 6th edition of the 3Media Women’s Brunch, media personality, Kokui Selormey Hanson, delivered a powerful and deeply resonant message on women’s health. One that struck a chord with many in the room.
Addressing an audience of trailblazers, young professionals and industry leaders, Kokui highlighted a pressing yet often overlooked reality: many women are silently battling health challenges without the support or understanding they need.
“A lot of women are suffering in silence,” she stated, emphasizing that the current medical landscape is not always equipped with the empathy required to fully support women through their health journeys.
Her call to action was clear and urgent, women must take ownership of their health.
Kokui encouraged women to actively educate themselves about health issues that affect them, stressing that awareness should not be limited to a particular age group. According to her, there is a growing number of young women in their 20s and 30s experiencing conditions that were once associated with older age, making early education and proactive care more important than ever.
She further urged women to break the silence and engage in open, honest conversations with healthcare professionals. Regular check-ups, routine testing and prioritizing self-care, she noted, are not optional but essential.
“Get your check-ups, get tested, take care of yourself,” she advised, reinforcing the importance of consistency in health management.
Ending on a sobering but powerful note, Kokui reminded the audience of a fundamental truth: without good health, nothing else matters.
“Without your health, you have nothing, nothing at all.”
Her message stood out as one of the most impactful moments of the brunch, shifting the focus beyond celebration to a necessary conversation about wellness, self-advocacy and the importance of putting oneself first.
