Diana Hopeson Tells It All On MEGYAE

Veteran Ghanaian gospel musician Diana Hopeson, popular known as Diana Akiwumi returns with Megyae, a new album that feels both deeply personal and familiar: a prayer set to music, carried by timeless melodies, worship, praise and a renewed call to live by the Word of God.

At the heart of the project is the title track, Megyae, inspired by Psalm 119:9–16, particularly the 

declaration:

“Your word have I hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”

Megyae speaks to the everyday struggle of trying to live right in a world where temptation, distraction and unhealthy habits are increasingly easy to fall into.

The song is not simply a warning 

against wrongdoing, but a prayer for the strength to let go of the things that keep us from becoming who God has called us to be.

The message also acknowledges that some of the habits people struggle to overcome can run deeper than what is visible on the surface and as a certified counsellor this is something Diana Hopeson wants to touch on.

Addiction, destructive behaviour and repeated patterns may be connected to trauma, stress, mental health challenges, environment and other underlying factors.

Megyae therefore becomes both a spiritual cry and an invitation to reflection, healing and transformation.

Musically, the album brings together different eras and expressions of Diana Hopeson’s sound.

The project features seven songs, alongside an instrumental version of Megyae.

The title track itself appears in two distinct interpretations: a warm, vintage-inspired version that recalls the 

character of classic Ghanaian gospel music, and a contemporary version for a new generation of listeners.

The album opens with a worship rendition of one of Diana Hopeson’s most beloved songs, Agyenkwa Hene.

It also features Yesu Mo reimagined in worship form, two energetic praise 

medleys, including one drawing from Diana’s Awutu heritage, and an English interpretation of Psalm 119:9–16 titled Your Word In My Heart.

Together, the songs create a journey through worship, praise, heritage and personal devotion while introducing a fresh chapter in Diana Hopeson’s longstanding contribution to Ghanaian gospel music.

Ahead of the official release activities, Diana Hopeson will host an online listening session on August 15, 2026, with further details to be announced across her social media platforms.

The Megyae album will then be officially launched at an invite and RSVP-only launch and fundraising event on August 30, 2026.

The fundraising is to support a nationwide school outreach and campaign inspired by the album.
