The Ghana Football Association has officially announced its decision to part ways with Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, bringing an abrupt end to his tenure with the national team.
The decision, which takes immediate effect, comes at a critical moment for Ghana football, with the Black Stars preparing for key fixtures on the road to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In an official statement, the GFA indicated that the move forms part of a broader restructuring aimed at repositioning the team and improving performance on the international stage. While details surrounding the termination remain limited, the Association noted that a new technical direction for the team will be announced in the coming days.

Addo’s exit follows a challenging period for the Black Stars, marked by inconsistent performances and growing pressure from fans and stakeholders. Ghana’s failure to secure qualification for the upcoming AFCON tournament further intensified scrutiny around the team’s technical leadership.
Having previously guided Ghana to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Addo returned to the role with hopes of rebuilding and strengthening the squad. However, recent results appear to have fallen short of expectations, ultimately leading to the Association’s decision.
The GFA expressed appreciation for Addo’s service and contribution to Ghana football, acknowledging his role during a transitional period for the team.
Attention now turns to who will take over the reins, as the Black Stars seek stability, renewed energy and a clear tactical identity ahead of crucial international assignments.
