Eleven killed, 13 Injured In Multi-Vehicle Crash At Ofankor Barrier

Eleven people have been confirmed dead and 13 others injured in a multiple-vehicle collision at the Ofankor Barrier on the Accra–Kumasi Highway early on Thursday morning.

The Ghana National Fire Service confirmed the death toll, with the injured receiving treatment at Achimota Hospital. The crash involved several vehicles, including tipper trucks and Sprinter buses, on the Ofankor-Pokuase stretch.

According to accounts from the scene, the incident began when a tipper truck struck a tricycle. Other vehicles then collided in a chain reaction. Many of the victims were traders transporting goods to market.

Emergency responders worked for hours to extricate trapped passengers from the wreckage and clear the roadway. Traffic on the stretch remains disrupted as recovery efforts continue.

Authorities have urged motorists travelling through the area to exercise caution and use alternative lanes where possible.
