Award-winning filmmaker Tyler Perry is ushering in the holiday season with his latest project, FINDING JOY, a heartwarming romantic drama now streaming exclusively on Prime Video.
The film, written, directed and produced by Perry under his Tyler Perry Studios banner in partnership with Amazon MGM Studios, follows Joy a talented yet overlooked New York fashion designer searching for meaning, love and a new start.
When her friends convince her to pursue a romantic interest in Colorado, Joy finds herself stranded in a snowstorm and unexpectedly crosses paths with Ridge, played by Tosin Morohunfola. What begins as an inconvenient detour quickly transforms into a journey of rediscovery, healing and true connection.
Shannon Thornton stars in the leading role, alongside Brittany S. Hall and Inayah, forming a cast that balances humor, heart and holiday spirit. The film’s snowy Colorado backdrop adds to its emotional tone, making it a visually rich story about love, resilience and self-worth.
Sharing the announcement on Instagram, Tyler Perry said: “My latest movie Finding Joy - tomorrow on Prime Video! I love this movie. It’ll warm your heart. I wanted to do something light and fun cause boy, do we need it.”
The release marks Perry’s return to the holiday-romance genre, a space he hasn’t explored since A MADEA CHRISTMAS. Unlike his usual family-centred dramas, FINDING JOY offers a refreshing, feel-good story that reflects on vulnerability and second chances themes that resonate deeply during the festive season.
Beyond its romantic storyline, the movie also celebrates creativity and fashion, mirroring the real struggles of many young designers and artists navigating recognition in a competitive world. A theme that resonates strongly with creatives everywhere.
With FINDING JOY, Tyler Perry once again showcases his versatility as a filmmaker capable of blending inspiration, comedy and emotional storytelling into a film that feels both timely and timeless.
