Rising Ghanaian musicians, S3nti and Bapi Joss are making waves with their new collaboration, RIDE. A playful yet intimate Highlife-inspired record that explores sensuality, vulnerability and emotional connection through music.
Speaking in a lively interview with the Culture Squad, the two artistes reflected on their individual musical journeys, creative inspirations and how their collaboration naturally came together through live performance and mutual admiration.
S3nti, whose real name is Abena Serwaa S3nti Frimpong, began music long before her official releases. Although she only started putting out personal records in 2024, she has spent years performing live with bands across Ghana.
“My journey started on stage,” she shared. “I’ve been performing live for about 10 years before releasing my own music.”
The singer, who also works as a physician assistant and clinical researcher, revealed that her artistry is deeply rooted in live instrumentation and performance culture. She currently fronts her own live band, The Sensational Band.
Her discography includes songs such as TOXIC LOVE, I WILL GO and WHATS ON MY MIND, before arriving at her latest release, RIDE.
Meanwhile, Bapi Joss traced his professional music journey back to 2021, when he released his debut single SANTORINI. The artiste revealed that the song was created during a songwriting session in Los Angeles with producer Soko7, known for his work on DRUNK IN LOVE by Beyoncé.
Reflecting on life as an independent Ghanaian artiste abroad, Bapi Joss spoke candidly about balancing work and music while living in Los Angeles.
“Los Angeles is expensive,” he explained. “You have to work, survive and still find time to create music.”
The collaboration between the pair began after Bapi Joss watched S3nti perform live at Front/Back Accra. Impressed by her electrifying stage presence, he reached out and the two stayed connected before eventually recording together.
According to S3nti, she was searching for the perfect collaborator for a Highlife-inspired song produced by Master Mason when Bapi immediately came to mind.
“He was the perfect person for it,” she said.
The result was RIDE, a song both artistes describe as sensual, playful and emotionally expressive.
“My music is intense and vulnerable,” Bapi Joss explained. “That’s how I approached the song.”
Despite initially describing the record as sensual, the hosts praised the song’s upbeat production and infectious Highlife groove, calling it playful and energetic rather than overly explicit.
The artistes also hinted at plans for a music video, encouraging fans to engage with the track online and create dance content using the song.
RIDE is currently available on streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, TikTok and Audiomack.
