Award-winning Ghanaian filmmaker Shirley Frimpong-Manso has been officially announced as a co-director for one of the upcoming major film projects under BRS Studios’ 2025 slate, marking a bold step into a new era of pan-African cinematic collaboration.
BRS Studios, a formidable alliance between Joy Odiete’s Blue Pictures, Ramsey Nouah’s Ramsey Films, and Chris Odeh’s Sozo Films, has unveiled three new films set to premiere in 2025. These projects bring together a stellar team of veteran African filmmakers: Shirley Frimpong-Manso, Ernest Obi, and Ramsey Nouah himself will each take on directorial roles.

Known for her compelling storytelling and championing of African narratives with global appeal, Shirley Frimpong-Manso’s addition signals a new layer of depth and dynamism to the slate. Her work—spanning films like Perfect Picture, Potato Potahto, and Adams Apples—has won her international acclaim and helped reshape modern Ghanaian cinema.
“Having Shirley join this lineup is not just exciting; it’s historic,” a BRS Studios representative stated. “Her creative vision aligns with our mission to tell bold African stories with high production value and emotional resonance.”
This announcement reflects a growing trend of cross-border collaboration in African cinema, merging creative forces from Ghana and Nigeria to craft stories that can stand tall on global stages. With production expected to begin later this year, more details about the films, including titles and cast, will be revealed in the coming months.
As the African film industry continues its renaissance, this powerhouse slate from BRS Studios—with Shirley Frimpong-Manso at the helm of one of its flagship projects—is a promising sign of what’s to come.
