Ghanaian filmmaker, director and cinematographer, Isaac Adu Mensah professionally known as Yaw Skyface, was on 3Music's Big Convo on the 19th of October where he opened up about a number of issues, from technology, to film making and career amongst others.
During his conversation with Jay Foley and the culture squad he recounted his experience working with Stonebwoy on his newest project, the MANODZI video off his 5th Dimension album. This came in response to a question surrounding creative freedom, considering the preference of artistes, creative director's ideas and how that has an effect on the working relationship between the two parties.
According to Skyface there are barely any misunderstandings between artistes and creative directors lately owing to growth, education and sometimes trust between the parties. Citing the MANODZI video, he revealed that the video only took 5 hours to shoot as they were dealing with very busy personalities, ie; Angelique Kidjo amongst other reasons. He also praised Stonbebwoy for being meticulous in executing his plans and ideas be it spontaneous or intentional, stating that the quality of the video was not dependent on the location but on the dedicated staff involved and the planning in the making of the video.
He however revealed that for most of the videos he had been recommended for, he was allowed by the artistes to explore his ideas with very little difficult, with the exception of when they would double check to ensure that he was certain about certain directions or routes that he wanted to take.
