U.S. President Donald Trump, has confirmed that he has no intention of granting a presidential pardon to music mogul Sean Combs, popularly known as Diddy, despite receiving a handwritten plea from the incarcerated artiste.
Speaking in a recent interview with The New York Times, Trump revealed that Combs personally reached out to him in writing, seeking clemency after his federal conviction. However, the president made it clear that the request is not under consideration.
“He wrote me a letter,” Trump stated, adding that while he was aware of the appeal, he does not plan to act on it.
Combs is currently serving a 50-month federal prison sentence following his conviction on charges related to the transportation of individuals for prostitution. The high-profile case has drawn significant public attention, given Combs’ longstanding influence in the global music and entertainment industry.
The development was first reported by Billboard and has since been echoed by several major international outlets. While presidential pardons for federal offences are entirely discretionary, Trump’s comments appear to close the door on any immediate possibility of relief for the Bad Boy Records founder.
This revelation adds another layer to the ongoing public scrutiny surrounding Combs’ legal troubles, which have marked a dramatic fall from grace for one of Hip-Hop’s most powerful figures. For now, his sentence remains unchanged and any hopes of executive clemency appear uncertain.
