Fans of the critically acclaimed Ghanaian youth television series You Only Live Once (YOLO) can rejoice as the highly anticipated Season 7 is set to premiere on Akwaaba Magic, DStv Channel 150 and GOtv Channel 102, on Monday, April 7th, at 7:30 PM. This marks a significant shift for the series, which has been exclusively available on YouTube and the FarmHouse Movies App for the past year.
The move to Akwaaba Magic promises a wider reach for YOLO, allowing more viewers across Ghana and beyond to engage with the show's compelling storylines and important social messages.
While excitement is high for the new season, some fans have expressed concern over the absence of beloved main characters such as Cyril, George, and Drogba. These characters have been integral to the show's success over the years, and their departure leaves a void. However, the production team has introduced fresh faces to the YOLO universe, hoping to captivate audiences with new dynamics and perspectives.
Nana Yaw Addae joins the cast as Eddie, who is the cousin of the main character Cyril. He lives with Cyril’s mum this season and plans to go and teach in the northern region just like his cousin.
Another character introduction is Poyooyo, played by Fahim Dumba. He is the best friend to Eddie (Cyril’s cousin). His character is somewhat similar to that of George in previous seasons. He is often referred to as “deputy minister of information” as George was referred to as the “minister of information”.

Despite the changes, viewers will be delighted to see the return of several fan-favorite characters. Ariana, Flex, Odenkyem, and Mark Anthony are all confirmed to be part of Season 7, promising a blend of familiar faces and new personalities.
This season of YOLO is set to tackle pressing social issues relevant to young people in Ghana. Themes of teenage pregnancy, the importance of condom use, the ongoing impact of COVID-19, and the dangers of sexually transmitted diseases will be explored through the engaging narratives the show is known for.
YOLO has consistently been praised for its realistic portrayal of adolescent life and its commitment to addressing crucial social issues. The show's ability to entertain while educating has made it a powerful tool for positive change among young audiences.
The premiere of Season 7 on Akwaaba Magic is expected to be a major television event, with fans eagerly awaiting the next chapter of this influential series. Will the new characters fill the shoes of the departed favorites? How will the shift in location impact the storylines? All these questions and more will be answered when YOLO returns to the small screen on April 7th.
