Atlanta rap icon Young Thug, born Jeffery Lamar Williams, has stirred controversy with a leaked snippet from an unreleased track rumored to be featured on Lil Baby’s upcoming album, THE LEAK$, set for release on August 15, 2025. In the clip, shared widely on X on August 11, 2025, Thug directly calls out former YSL labelmate Gunna, rapping, “Only reason I f*cked with you, Gunna, it was ’cause of Troup,” referencing their late mutual friend and mentor Keith “King” Troup, who was murdered in 2015. The pointed lyric, delivered over a Shawty Lo-sampled beat, marks Thug’s most explicit diss since his release from jail in October 2024, reigniting tensions stemming from Gunna’s 2022 Alford plea in the YSL RICO case.

The snippet, which also targets YSL affiliate Yak Gotti with the line, “Yak tricked me for some years, I ain’t know he was telling,” has fueled speculation about a fractured YSL camp. Gunna, who denied snitching allegations and maintained in a 2024 XXL interview that his relationship with Thug was “love, always,” responded to a prior Thug diss tweet on his track PROTOTYPE from his August 8, 2025, album THE LAST WUN, rapping, “N***a had tweeted my name, must’ve had to be a typo.” Fans on X are divided, with some praising Thug’s boldness and others defending Gunna’s plea, noting his lawyer’s assertion that he never cooperated against Thug. As THE LEAK$ nears, the snippet, available in clips on social media, keeps the hip-hop world buzzing about this ongoing feud.
