The Kumasi High Court has officially declared both Akosua Serwaah Fosu and Priscilla Ofori as the surviving spouses of the late Ghanaian music legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, widely known as Daddy Lumba.
The ruling, delivered on Friday, November 28, 2025, brings a significant conclusion to the contentious civil marriage case that has been ongoing for months. The case centred on the legal status of Akosua Serwaah, who claimed to have been lawfully married to the late musician under civil ordinance.
Her Ladyship Dorinda Smith Arthur, presiding over the matter, had earlier informed the court on Tuesday, November 25, that judgment would be delivered after all parties had presented their testimonies and evidence.
A major turning point in the proceedings was the submission of the original civil marriage certificate between Akosua Serwaah and the late musician, tendered by the plaintiff’s counsel upon the court’s request.
After reviewing the testimonies, evidence and legal arguments presented by all parties, the court ruled that both women that is Akosua Serwaah Fosu and Priscilla Ofori qualify as surviving spouses of the late Daddy Lumba.
The ruling sets the stage for further legal processes concerning inheritance, property distribution and other matters related to the late icon’s estate.
This decision marks a significant moment in a highly publicized case that has drawn attention across the country, especially given Daddy Lumba’s towering influence in Ghana’s music industry.
