Ghana is making waves on the continental stage as three of its leading female acts, Amaarae, Moliy, and Wendy Shay have earned nominations in the Best Female Artiste in West Africa category at this year’s All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA).

The trio will battle it out with some of Africa’s biggest female stars, including Nigeria’s Ayra Starr and Tiwa Savage, among other celebrated names across the sub-region.

The nominations highlight Ghana’s diverse female artistry — from alternative and experimental sounds to Afrobeats and mainstream pop — showcasing the country’s impact on the West African and global music scene.

AFRIMA, often dubbed “the Grammys of Africa,” celebrates and rewards musical talent across the continent, and the Best Female Artiste in West Africa category is always one of the most fiercely contested.

With powerhouse names like Ayra Starr and Tiwa Savage also in the running, the category is expected to generate massive buzz. The winners will be announced at the AFRIMA Awards ceremony later this year, where Africa’s brightest stars will gather to celebrate the continent’s vibrant music culture.
