Ghanaian artiste AratheJay has taken the music scene by storm with his debut EP, FINDING NIMO SERIES : THE CAPSULE, a vibrant celebration of Highlife infused with Afrobeats and trap influences, released in 2024. In an exclusive interview with GQ,  the masked artiste shared the spiritual and cultural roots behind the project, which has earned critical acclaim as a cornerstone of the Highlife renaissance.

Known for his signature crocheted balaclava, AratheJay blends Ghanaian heritage with innovative sounds, aiming to inspire listeners with messages of faith, grace, and love. “Fulfillment to me is about lasting and being impactful with my talent,” he said, emphasizing his mission to spread God’s purpose through music.

The EP, highlighted by the faith-driven single JESUS CHRISAT II featuring Black Sherif, showcases AratheJay’s introspective artistry, with tracks that weave personal prayers into universal themes. His 2024 milestones, including being named Apple Music’s “Up Next: Ghana Artiste” and part of the “Africa Rising Class of 2025,” culminated in a sold-out Nimo Live concert, cementing his rise. Influenced by his Ghanaian upbringing and Kenyan experiences, AratheJay credits his grandfather’s accordion playing and the Kenyan countryside for shaping his eclectic sound.

With recent collaborations like Fire with Bella Shmurda and features with M.anifest and T.I. Blaze, Finding Nimo Series: The Capsule positions AratheJay as a leading voice in African music’s new wave, available now on all major streaming platforms.
