Bankulli Backs Shatta Wale’s Prolific Music Strategy, Calls Him A MUSIC FACTORY

Nigerian music executive Bankulli has defended Shatta Wale’s frequent release of albums and singles, describing the Ghanaian musician as a music factory whose consistency is one of his greatest strengths.

Speaking on the Big Convo segment on the Culture Daily morning show on 3Music TV and Pluzz 89.9 FM, Bankulli dismissed criticism that Shatta Wale releases music too often.

“Shatta is a music factory. Shatta Wale is special,” he said.

He argued that the musician’s output reflects passion rather than a marketing mistake.

“This man, it is passion. It is his life. It is his calling. What do you want him to do?” he asked.

Bankulli said Shatta Wale had consistently produced music for about 15 years and had built a loyal audience by continually expressing his experiences through his songs.

“They’ve been able to share part of his pain through music. They’ve been able to share part of his expressions, happiness through music,” he said, referring to the artiste’s fan base.

He also rejected the view that releasing music frequently reduces its quality.

Instead, he said the music business has changed significantly with the rise of digital platforms and streaming services.

“Back then it was CDs and vinyl. Now it is streaming,” he said. “That doesn’t mean people are not still buying CDs or vinyl. They are still there.”

Bankulli compared today’s music industry to the transition from pagers to smartphones, arguing that technology had transformed how artistes create, distribute, and market their work.

He also challenged the term “microwave music," saying critics often judge artistes without understanding the creative process.

“Who is calling it microwave music?” he asked.

He said artistes process ideas at different speeds, comparing the human brain to computers with different download capacities.

“The consumers are the ones that will determine whether they love it,” he said.

Bankulli revealed that he was in Ghana at the invitation of Shatta Wale following the musician’s recent visit to Lagos.

He hinted that projects developed during that visit would soon be unveiled.

“We only saw a podcast, but there were many things that happened beyond the podcast,” he said.

While declining to give details, he said the collaborations would eventually be seen around the world.

He also described Shatta Wale as “a symbol of Ghanaian music” with growing international appeal.

“The whole world can’t wait to enjoy more,” he said.
