Ghanaian Boxing Star Isaac Dogboe Announces Retirement

Former WBO super-bantamweight champion Isaac “The Royal Storm” Dogboe has officially retired from professional boxing.

Widely regarded as one of the country’s most successful boxers of his generation, Dogboe brought an end to a 13-year professional career. He finishes with a record of 24 wins and four losses, including 16 victories by knockout.

Dogboe’s defining moment came in 2018 when, at the age of 23, he stopped Jessie Magdaleno in the 11th round to capture the WBO super-bantamweight world title. The victory made him Ghana’s youngest world boxing champion at the time. 

He successfully defended the belt with a first-round stoppage of Japan’s Hidenori Otake before losing the title to Mexican star Emanuel Navarrete in two consecutive fights.

In later years Dogboe moved up to featherweight, where he claimed the WBO International title and competed in high-profile bouts, including a challenge for the vacant WBO featherweight title.

In his retirement message, Dogboe expressed gratitude to fans and supporters.

“Glory Be To The LORD ALMIGHTY and Thank you boxing fans and supporters. Your Support Over The Years Is Greatly Appreciated… This Is Goodbye,” he wrote.

Dogboe’s career helped raise the profile of Ghanaian boxing on the international stage and inspired a new generation of fighters in the country.
