Barcelona's pursuit of a midfield dynamo to fill the shoes of club icon Sergio Busquets is heating up, as reports unveil the club's ambitious plans for the upcoming summer transfer window.

According to insiders in Spain, Barcelona's sporting director Deco has honed in on a select group of midfield talents he believes could elevate the team's stature in European football. At the forefront of their radar stands Everton's rising star, Amadou Onana, renowned for his strength, confidence, aerial prowess, and knack for finding the back of the net.

Joining Onana in Barcelona's sights are heavyweights like Bayern Munich's Joshua Kimmich, Feyenoord's Mats Wieffer, and Girona's Aleix Garcia. While Kimmich boasts world-class credentials, his hefty price tag poses a challenge for Barcelona. Wieffer, endorsed by former Barcelona luminary Giovanni van Bronckhorst, emerges as a more financially viable option, potentially available for a fee of €25m.

Garcia, a standout performer for Girona in La Liga, emerges as an appealing prospect with his release clause set at a modest €15m. Barcelona sees him as a budget-friendly solution to fortify their midfield.

With the departure of Busquets to MLS, Barcelona's midfield renovation is a top priority for Deco. The aim is to reinforce the squad for the upcoming 2024/25 season, with a focus on securing a commanding presence to orchestrate play and dictate the tempo on the pitch.

As the transfer window draws near, anticipation builds among Barcelona faithfuls, eagerly awaiting updates on the potential acquisitions. With an array of talented options, including Onana, Kimmich, Wieffer, and Garcia, speculation is rife over who will steer the midfield ship for Barcelona in the seasons to come.
