Burna Boy Sets New Milestone With Historic Billboard Hot 100 Streak
Burna Boy
Burna Boy has once again stamped his name in the history books, becoming the first African artiste to appear on the Billboard Hot 100 for five consecutive years. His latest entry comes from his feature on Gunna’s track WGFT, which debuted at No. 94, pushing his total Billboard Hot 100 appearances to seven, the most ever by an African act.

This landmark achievement puts him ahead of fellow Nigerian stars Wizkid and Tems, who each have five entries. It also underscores Burna Boy’s remarkable consistency and his ability to remain a global force in an ever-shifting music landscape.

Burna Boy’s Billboard success is just one highlight of his barrier-breaking career. In July 2023, he became the first African artist to headline a U.S. stadium, selling out Citi Field in New York. By March 2024, he had also set a new record as the highest-grossing African artist in the U.S., earning approximately $1.725 million from his Capital One Arena show in Washington, D.C.—surpassing the record he previously set at Boston’s TD Garden.

The Grammy winner and three-time BET International Act honoree has also become one of Afrobeats’ most celebrated ambassadors on the global stage. His eighth studio album, No Sign of Weakness (2025), debuted on the Billboard 200, making him the first Nigerian artist with five albums to appear on the chart. The project features collaborations with major international names including Travis Scott, Mick Jagger, and Stromae, highlighting his talent for blending African rhythms with diverse global influences.

Burna Boy’s journey is a story of persistence, innovation, and ambition. His record-breaking run on the Billboard charts is more than a personal victory—it symbolizes the unstoppable rise of African music worldwide. With every milestone, he continues to expand the genre’s reach, paving the way for the next generation of African artists and proving that Afrobeats is not a passing wave but a permanent fixture in global music.
