The lawsuit, filed by Emani Ellis, accused the artiste of assault, battery, negligence, and emotional distress stemming from a February 2018 incident at a Beverly Hills OB-GYN office while Cardi B was four months pregnant. Ellis alleged that the rapper scratched her face and spat on her.

Cardi B consistently denied the claims, describing the encounter as a verbal dispute after she felt her privacy was breached. Witnesses, including her doctor and office staff, testified they saw no physical contact between the two. The jury ultimately found Ellis’s account unconvincing.

Following the verdict, Cardi B addressed reporters outside the courthouse, issuing a strong warning to anyone considering legal action against her without merit:

“I’m not that celebrity you’re going to sue and I’m going to settle. I’m going to countersue, and you’re going to pay.”

Despite her firm tone, the rapper also urged her fans not to harass Ellis or her family online.

The case drew widespread public attention, with Cardi B’s unfiltered testimony, facial expressions, and daily wig changes becoming viral moments across social media. Her courtroom presence, often blending humor and candor, strengthened her public support throughout the proceedings.

Ellis’s legal team has indicated plans to appeal the ruling.

For Cardi B, the decision not only clears her of liability but also sends a broader message, she intends to fight back against lawsuits she considers frivolous, rather than opting for quiet settlements.

The trial ends in a win for Cardi B, not just legally, but publicly. She emerges with her image intact, her charisma on full display, and  she’ll protect her name and prosperity, and won’t be an easy target for bogus lawsuits.
