Ghanaian-South African singer Chayuta has shared her inspiring musical journey in an interview on the Morning Bite Show with Jay Foley, CReal and Lerny Lomotey.

The young artiste revealed that her passion for music was discovered during her time at Vine Christian School, where her teacher recognized her vocal talent. She pursued classical music through the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), achieving a Grade 3 distinction in vocals.

Despite a strict Christian school environment, Chayuta transitioned from opera to secular music, citing global superstar Rihanna as her biggest influence. “It wasn’t easy convincing people that secular music wasn’t a big deal, but Rihanna’s journey showed me how powerful versatility can be,” she said.

Her parents, particularly her mother, played a key role in supporting her dreams, even going as far as building a home studio in their garage. This opened doors for mentorship from Ghanaian dancehall artist Jupitar, who coached her in songwriting and performance confidence.

Chayuta began releasing music at age 14, later dropping her debut EP 17 at 18. She is best known for songs such as SOLO, written by Jupitar and produced by Mixmaster Garzy.

Currently, she is promoting her latest single MY SOUL featuring Olive The Boy and produced by Vampire. She described the collaboration as an exciting moment between two young talents, adding that she looks forward to working with more artistes, including South Africa’s Tyla.

Balancing her Ghanaian and South African roots, Chayuta continues to fuse Afrobeats, Amapiano and R&B in her sound. Reflecting on her growth, she noted that while some of her former teachers remain skeptical, her music teacher once broke into tears of pride watching her perform.

With determination and versatility at the core of her brand, Chayuta is steadily carving her place on the African music scene.
