The British Council, in partnership with My Runway Group (MRG), has officially launched the Creative DNA Ghana Fashion Accelerator 2026 in Accra. The initiative is a landmark programme aimed at accelerating the growth of Ghana’s emerging fashion, textile and apparel entrepreneurs onto the global stage.
The 16-week programme, running from April to July 2026, will support 50 mid-career Ghanaian designers and fashion business owners. Participants will receive world-class training in brand development, digital commerce, sustainability, investor readiness and international market access. The programme will conclude with a public showcase, buyer meetings with UK partners and post-programme micro-grant opportunities for outstanding participants.
The official launch mixer, held at the British Council in Accra, brought together 150 guests, including programme participants, institutional partners and industry stakeholders. Notable attendees included representatives from the Creative Arts Agency, the Ghana Tourism Development Company, and the U.S. Department of State, alongside key figures from the creative and fashion industries. Ghanaian musician E.L and media personalities were also present, marking the event as a significant moment for Ghana’s creative ecosystem.
Speaking at the event, Kofi Turkson, COO of My Runway Group, described the programme as more than just a training initiative, emphasising its role in positioning African creative talent on the global stage and building long-term opportunities for growth.
Similarly, Nii Doodo Dodoo, Country Director of the British Council Ghana, highlighted the accelerator as a major step in strengthening Ghana’s creative economy and deepening cultural exchange between Ghana and the UK. He noted that the programme brings together global expertise and local talent to equip participants with the tools needed to compete internationally.
The launch signals a bold new chapter in the UK-Ghana creative partnership, with a strong focus on empowering the next generation of fashion entrepreneurs and elevating Ghana’s influence on the global creative stage.
