Doechii, the dynamic rapper and singer from Tampa, Florida, has been honored as Billboard’s 2025 Woman of the Year. She will accept the award at the Billboard Women in Music Awards on March 29th at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles.
This accolade follows her historic Grammy win for Best Rap Album with her mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal, making her only the third woman to receive this honor in that category. The mixtape, praised for its versatile blend of smooth R&B and sharp flows, was recognized by The Associated Press as one of the best albums of 2024.
Doechii’s rise began with her viral hit Yucky Blucky Fruitcake in 2021, leading to a contract with Top Dawg Entertainment and Capitol Records. Her 2022 EP She / Her / Black Bitch showcased her unique sound, captivating stage presence, and candid lyrics, earning her the Rising Star Award at Billboard’s 2023 Women in Music event.
The Billboard Women in Music Awards will also honor other influential figures, including aespa, Ángela Aguilar, and Blackpink’s Jennie. Hosted by Laverne Cox, the event will air live on March 29 at 7 p.m. Pacific on VIZIO WatchFree+, with tickets available on Ticketmaster.
