In October 2024, Texas-based artiste Forrest Frank, formerly one-half of the pop duo Surfaces, launched a remarkable solo career in the Christian music scene with his hit single YOUR WAY’S BETTER, released on October 25 as part of the deluxe edition of his Grammy-nominated album CHILD OF GOD. The track, a vibrant fusion of Christian hip-hop, lo-fi, and pop, debuted at No. 72 on the Billboard Hot 100 which was Frank’s first solo chart entry and also soared to No. 2 on the Billboard Hot Christian Songs chart. Fueled by over 250,000 TikTok clips and a viral dance trend, the song’s infectious energy and heartfelt message of surrendering to God’s plan struck a chord with a broad audience. Frank’s rapid ascent, backed by 4 million social media followers and 8.1 million Spotify monthly listeners, highlights his unique ability to resonate with a new generation craving authentic, uplifting worship music.

YOUR WAY’S BETTER, co-written and produced by Frank with Pera Krstajić, encapsulates his signature style of bright R&B grooves, upbeat pop sensibilities, and gospel-infused melodies paired with introspective lyrics about personal struggles and divine guidance. Lyrics like “I searched the world till my head hurt / Just to find out Your way’s better” tap into a universal search for purpose, making the song accessible even to non-Christian listeners. Reddit threads reveal fans praising its catchy, feel-good vibe, with some admitting they enjoyed it despite feeling disconnected from its faith-based themes. The song’s cultural footprint expanded through a TikTok dance trend embraced by families and church groups, propelling it to No. 41 on the Billboard TikTok Top 50 and cementing Frank’s knack for blending spirituality with modern appeal.

Frank’s pivot to Christian music was shaped by a transformative period in 2021, when he stepped away from Surfaces’ touring schedule, relocated to Waco, Texas, and embraced fatherhood. His 2023 viral hit NO LONGER BOUND with Hulvey laid the foundation for his Christian music career, but CHILD OF GOD, released in July 2024, marked his true breakout, selling 22,000 units in its first week and holding No. 1 on the Billboard Christian Albums chart for over 30 weeks. The album’s Grammy nomination and Frank’s recognition as Billboard’s Top New Christian Artiste of 2023 set the stage for YOUR WAY’S BETTER, which further showcased his genre-blending prowess through collaborations like NOTHING ELSE with Thomas Rhett. The single’s radio success, reaching No. 35 on Billboard Christian Airplay, underscores its broad resonance within and beyond Christian music circles.

The triumph of YOUR WAY’S BETTER reflects Frank’s mission to redefine Christian music for Gen Z, crafting songs that feel equally at home in worship services, gyms, or casual playlists. His refusal to compromise his sound for mainstream radio, as he shared in interviews, has earned him a loyal fanbase seeking “cool Christian music” that aligns with contemporary lifestyles. With over 1 billion global streams for CHILD OF GOD and a sold-out  CHILD OF GOD TOUR Part 2 slated for March 2025 across 26 U.S. and Canadian cities, Frank’s influence continues to grow. Praised by outlets like Christianity Today and Movieguide for his spiritually profound yet universally appealing approach, Frank is not only reshaping the Christian music landscape but also proving that faith-driven art can captivate diverse audiences while staying true to its core message.
