Ghanaian Artistes Bag Multiple Nominations At Afrima 2025

Ghana’s music industry will once again take centre stage at the 12th All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) as some of the nation’s biggest stars have secured nominations across key categories.

This year’s list, unveiled in Lagos, Nigeria, highlights the diversity and influence of Ghanaian talent on the continental scene.

Leading the charge is Moliy, who emerged as one of the most nominated female acts with five nods across major categories. She ties with top continental names such as Nigeria’s Burna Boy and Davido, South Africa’s Tyla, and Morocco’s ElGrandeToto.

Black Sherif, widely regarded as one of Africa’s most promising voices, also earned nominations including Best  African Artiste and Songwriter of the Year.

Ghana’s multiple award-winning dancehall star, Stonebwoy, also secured some These categories see him go head-to-head with Nigeria’s Davido and Burna Boy, promising fierce competition.

Ghana’s Rap landlord Sarkodie also got nominated, Wendy Shay wasn’t left out as well as Amaarae.

In a refreshing twist for Ghana, Oscar Heman-Ackah has been nominated for Best Soundtrack in a Movie, Series or Documentary with his work on To Kill a Monkey. He will compete with the likes of Nigeria’s Yemi Alade, who also earned a nod in the soundtrack category.

Winners will be decided through a public voting process, opening on September 10, and the awards ceremony is slated for November 30, 2025, in Lagos, Nigeria.

For Ghana, the nominations not only reaffirm the country’s influence on the continent but also highlight the depth and versatility of its music, from chart-topping afrobeat and dancehall to film soundtracks shaping the African creative narrative.
