Ghana's Tallest Man, Awuche, Dies At 33
Abdul-Samed Sulemana

Man believed to be Ghana's tallest, Abdul-Samed Sulemana also known as Awuche has died at the age of 33.

Awuche passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026 at the Tamale hospital after battling a gigantic-related illness.

The news of his death comes weeks after Ghanaian philanthropist Ibrahim Mahama pledged to cover his medical expenses after a plea for support through an urgent treatment.

According to reports, Awuche's health deteriorated due to gigantic complications, prompting an immediate transfer from the Babtist Medical Center (BMC) in Nalerugu to the Tamale Teaching Hospital.

His family said that doctors at the Tamale Hospital recommended amputation of his leg after part of the limb began rotting due to an infection.

Awuche has been battling gigantism for several years now but financial constraints left him unable to seek medical care.

Abdul-Samed Sulemana hailed from Gambaga in the North Easy Region of Ghana, and acclaimed to be the country's tallest standing at approximately 7 feet 8 inches.
