Rockstar Games released the second trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI), which amassed an astonishing 68.1 million views on YouTube within just 24 hours, solidifying its place as a cultural juggernaut. The trailer, showcasing the vibrant, crime-ridden open world of Leonida and its Miami-inspired Vice City, builds on the hype from the first trailer, which set a record with 93 million views in 24 hours.

Fans erupted with excitement, noting the trailer’s stunning visuals, dynamic storytelling featuring protagonists Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, and hints at the game’s 2026 release. This viewership milestone underscores GTA VI’s unmatched anticipation, driven by Rockstar’s legacy and the franchise’s global fanbase.

The trailer’s rapid success, garnering 4.7 million likes and 416,000 comments in its first day, reflects Rockstar’s ability to dominate the gaming conversation without relying on traditional industry events like Summer Game Fest. Unlike the first trailer, which was released early due to a leak, Trailer 2’s drop was a calculated move, accompanied by new screenshots that further fueled fan speculation about gameplay and narrative depth. Posts highlight the trailer’s impact, with some users joking about PC gamers’ frustration over the confirmed PS5 and Xbox Series X/S exclusivity for the May 26, 2026, launch. The numbers suggest Trailer 2 could challenge its predecessor’s record, though it fell short of the 100-million-view mark in 24 hours coveted by fans.

This milestone cements GTA VI as a pop culture phenomenon, with viewership rivaling major entertainment releases. The trailer’s success follows the first’s record-breaking debut, which outpaced MrBeast’s non-music video record and nearly toppled BTS’s BUTTER music video for the all-time 24-hour viewership crown.

Rockstar’s strategic silence since the first trailer in December 2023 has only heightened anticipation, with Take-Two Interactive projecting massive sales for the game. As fans dissect every frame for clues about the story and mechanics, Trailer 2’s 68 million views signal that GTA VI is poised to redefine gaming when it launches, even amidst its recent delay to 2026.
