I Lost Brand Deals Because Of My BBL - Salma Mumin

Ghanaian actress and filmmaker Salma Mumin has revealed that public criticism over her Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedure led to the loss of several endorsement deals.

In a recent interview on Joy Prime’s Changes programme with host Nikki Samonas, Mumin said brands that had previously worked with her, including Maggi Cube, stopped collaborating after the procedure. She also noted that other companies that had shown interest in partnerships quietly withdrew once online discussions about her appearance intensified.

Mumin explained that she chose to remain silent for about eight years, treating the surgery as a private decision. Over time, however, the ongoing comments affected her reputation and career opportunities, prompting her to speak out.

“I lost a lot of brands because of my BBL,” she stated.

“Even before my body enhancement, brands that had reached out to me that were in the process discussing business with me automatically withdrew and I understood why,” she added. 

The actress added that the negative public reaction in Ghana made it difficult for brands to continue associating with her, even as she focused on her work in film and fashion.
