Linda Yaccarino Steps Down as CEO of X After Two Years

Linda Yaccarino, CEO of X (formerly known as Twitter), has officially announced her resignation after serving two years at the helm of the Elon Musk-owned platform.

Yaccarino, who joined X in 2023 after a successful career as advertising chief at NBCUniversal, did not cite a specific reason for her departure. However, in a farewell message posted to the platform, she expressed pride in the work accomplished during her tenure.

“Serving as CEO of X has been one of the most rewarding chapters of my career,” she wrote. “I’m incredibly proud of the transformation we’ve achieved — reigniting innovation, restoring advertiser trust, and laying the foundation for X as the ‘Everything App.’”

Her resignation comes at a pivotal time for the company, which has undergone dramatic changes under Musk’s ownership including a full rebrand, controversial content policy shifts, and growing integration with artificial intelligence technology via Musk’s xAI initiative.

Yaccarino was initially brought in to help stabilize the company’s ad business, which had seen sharp declines following Musk’s acquisition. Under her leadership, X reportedly recovered most of its major advertisers and expanded premium services for users and creators.

Though the company has yet to announce a successor, Musk thanked Yaccarino for her contributions and wished her well in future endeavors.

Her departure marks another major leadership shift in the ongoing evolution of X — a platform still navigating its identity amid ongoing public scrutiny and technological reinvention.
