The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has detained five Central University students on suspicion of selling and distributing cannabis and items containing cannabis during a targeted investigation on campus.
After information about illegal drug activity inside the university community was acquired, the suspects; Level 100, Level 300, and Level 400 students were apprehended.
The students allegedly produced and sold cannabis-infused ice cream, sobolo, toffees, pepper, and eggs in addition to trading in raw cannabis, according to preliminary investigations.
Quantities of the suspected narcotics were found during the operation and have been collected for forensic analysis as part of continuing investigations.
Officials from NACOC have reiterated their commitment to stopping drug-related activity in schools, cautioning pupils not to participate in the trafficking or use of drugs.
The arrested students are expected to assist in investigation for NACOC to ascertain the full scale of the operation and to identify other persons involved in the illegal trade.
