Police investigations into the East Legon-based businessman accused of
non-consensual sharing of intimate images have uncovered suspected sedative
drugs, electronic storage devices and a private Telegram platform allegedly
used to distribute explicit content involving women without their consent.
The suspect, identified by police as 36-year-old entrepreneur Joshua Kojo Anane
Boateng, also known as SoAfrican, was arrested by the Cyber Crime Unit of the
Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in a joint intelligence-led operation
with the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI).
According to the Director-General of the
Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, a search
conducted at the suspect’s apartment led to the retrieval of sachets containing
substances suspected to be alprazolam, commonly known as Xanax, and midazolam,
drugs the police believe may have been used to incapacitate some victims before
the alleged abuse and filming.
The substances have since been forwarded to the
Food and Drugs Authority for laboratory examination and confirmation.
She added that the police also seized several
electronic devices from the apartment, including mobile phones, a laptop
computer, hard drives and memory cards, which are currently undergoing forensic
analysis as investigators attempt to establish the extent of the alleged
operation.
The CID boss said preliminary investigations
suggest the suspect operated a Telegram channel identified as VIP Sleep
Fetish 2025, where explicit videos and intimate images of women were
allegedly circulated without their knowledge or consent.
She said that some of the videos appeared to
have been recorded secretly inside the suspect’s residence after the victims
had allegedly been drugged or rendered unconscious.
The suspect was arrested on May 6, 2026, after
weeks of cyber surveillance and intelligence gathering by the Cyber Crime
Unit.
The Ghana Police Service says investigations
remain ongoing and more victims are expected to come forward as forensic work
continues.
They indicated that while some of the alleged
victims captured in the videos have been identified, many have yet to
officially file complaints.
The CID has therefore appealed to persons who
may have had any interaction with the suspect or may have been affected by the
alleged activities to cooperate with investigators.
The suspect is expected to face charges linked
to cybercrime, non-consensual sharing of intimate images and possible sexual
offences, pending the outcome of investigations and forensic examinations.
