Grammy-winning artiste SZA is stepping into the fashion world in a bold new way, becoming Vans’ first-ever Artistic Director. The announcement was made today in an exclusive feature with Vogue, marking a historic moment for the iconic footwear and lifestyle brand.

Known for her effortless blend of comfort and individuality, SZA says the role is a natural fit. “I’ve always been about comfort and self-expression. I love feeling stable, sturdy—and also cute as fck,”* she told Vogue, reflecting on her long-standing connection to the brand.

SZA’s relationship with Vans is deeply personal—she recalls even hiking in a customized pair of Knu Skool sneakers, joking, “They’re so ugly, that they’re great.” Now, she’ll bring that same authenticity and humor to the brand’s creative direction.

In her new role, SZA will oversee campaigns, guide the brand’s visual storytelling, and design exclusive products. She promises her designs will remain true to her instincts for color and silhouette, while ensuring they stay accessible and affordable.

The partnership signals a fresh era for Vans, one that blends its skate-inspired heritage with SZA’s distinctive artistry.
