Victony Holds It Down at AfroFuture Fest in Detroit
Victony
Nigerian star Victony delivered a show-stopping performance at the inaugural AfroFuture Festival in Detroit, cementing his place as one of the standout acts of the weekend. The rising Afrobeats sensation lit up the stage with a dynamic set that had the crowd dancing, singing, and cheering well into the night.

AfroFuture Detroit marked the U.S. debut of the globally celebrated festival, transforming Bedrock’s Douglass Site into a hub of music, art, food, and fashion. The event paid homage to Detroit’s rich musical legacy—home to icons like Diana Ross and Smokey Robinson—while celebrating Africa’s modern creative influence. Headliners included Davido, Asake, Kaytranada, Ludmilla, and hometown favorite Tee Grizzley, but it was Victony’s set that stole the spotlight for many festival-goers.

Known offstage as Anthony Ebuka Victor, Victony has carved out a unique space in Afrobeats by blending soulful vocals with hip-hop and R&B influences. His 2024 album Stubborn showcased his range and lyrical depth, and Detroit’s audience got a taste of that artistry firsthand. Social media buzzed with clips from his set, with fans praising his “electrifying” presence and calling his performance one of the festival’s most memorable moments.

For a festival designed to bridge African creativity with global audiences, Victony’s performance felt like the perfect embodiment of that mission. His ability to connect across cultures through sound and storytelling made clear why his star continues to rise—and why AfroFuture’s Detroit debut will be remembered as a turning point for both the artist and the festival.
