In a powerful act of compassion and advocacy, award-winning Nigerian artiste Adekunle Gold has launched a new initiative called 5 STAR CARE, aimed at supporting individuals living with sickle cell disease. Announced today in commemoration of World Sickle Cell Day, the initiative will provide free health insurance to 1,000 sickle cell warriors in Lagos.
A long-time advocate and warrior himself, Adekunle Gold has never shied away from sharing his personal journey with sickle cell. His latest move reflects a deeper commitment to giving back and easing the burden on those battling the chronic illness.
“Living with sickle cell is a tough journey — one I know intimately,” Adekunle Gold shared. “Through 5 STAR CARE, I want to bring real support and relief to others like me. Healthcare should be a right, not a privilege.”
The health insurance package will cover essential medical services such as consultations, medications, emergency care, and specialized treatments. The initiative is set to be rolled out in partnership with healthcare providers and advocacy groups across Lagos.
World Sickle Cell Day, observed annually on June 19th, is dedicated to raising global awareness about the disease and addressing the health and social challenges faced by patients. Adekunle Gold’s 5 STAR CARE initiative is being celebrated as a groundbreaking contribution toward this cause.
This generous act has sparked widespread admiration on social media, with fans and health advocates hailing the artiste not just as a music star, but as a true humanitarian.
