A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces has etched her name in the annals of WNBA history by breaking the single-season points record. During a game against the Indiana Fever, Wilson scored  941points,beating the previous record , which was 939 set by Jewell Loyd just last season.

Despite the Aces underperforming this season, Wilson’s individual performance has been nothing short of extraordinary. In her seventh year in the league, the two-time MVP and Defensive Player of the Year consistently showcased her scoring prowess. Entering the game against the Fever, Wilson has already accumulated 929 points over 34 games, outpacing the previous record set by Diana Taurasi in 2006, who had 860 points during her record-setting season.

Wilson’s impressive scoring is an average of 27.3 points per game ,places her on track to not only break the single-season scoring record but also potentially achieve the highest-scoring average in WNBA history. To do so, she needs just 83 points in the remaining five games of the season, which would surpass Taurasi’s average of 25.3 points.

In addition to her scoring feats, Wilson leads the league in several critical statistical categories, including defensive rebounds, blocks, turnover percentage, and win shares. Her all-around dominance has made her the clear favorite for this season’s MVP award, as she continues to elevate her game to new heights. “I don’t want it to ever get lost on how good (A’ja) is,” said Aces coach Becky Hammon. “She just does it all. She’s in the middle of a run that sometimes I want to shake her and say, do you know how good you are? But then I don’t want to shake her because I don’t want to wake her up. She can just stay in whatever zone she’s in.”

As the Aces set their sights on a third consecutive championship, Wilson’s relentless pursuit of excellence continues to shine.
