Ghanaian-American Superstar, Amaarae, has hinted at her highly anticipated return with a new single Reckless & Sweet and its video that she describes as her “sexiest video to date”. Along with the release comes an announcement of her second album Fountain Baby.

With the launch of a refreshingly new perspective, Amaarae explores the theme of heartbreak, borrowing Arabic and Indian melodies in addition to African drumbeats to create captivating sonics whiles poetically expressing the pain of heartbreak that comes with being taken advantage of.

Known for her visually compelling
style of storytelling, Amaarae journeys her viewers through a subtle story of
highly stylized vignettes with her as the protagonist and two lead love
interests played by models Leomie Anderson and Monjyok Ngor Deng.
The video is clad with subtleties
of mysterious sensuality from its blend of lowlights, spotlights and blue
lights set against a monochrome style.
A post-millennium nod to the world of high fashion, the video is peppered with iconic moments. A sonic and visual departure from TAYDK, this latest release signifies the start of the next chapter for Amaarae, with more music and details surrounding the album on its way soon.

According
to her, the single is borne out of time, thought, and reflection which has
given her a clear sense of direction with what she has to offer next. In a
statement pertaining the single she said, "coming
back after so long, I had a lot of time to think and reflect on what I wanted
my message to be. Last time it was about confidence, this time it’s about love
and faith. This is my sexiest video to date and what I love most about it is
that young black women and men are about to see what our new energy is for 2023
and beyond. Moving forward we’re grown and sexy."
Adding to that, she stated, “We’re going to make sure we always look our best, talk our best, walk
our best and most of all we’re bringing love and romance back! Reckless and
Sweet is a sexy song. It’s about being intentional with the ways we make and
give love. It’s about finding the inner sensuality and confidence without
yourself and sharing that with the world. As an artiste that is exactly where
I’m at the moment.”
On the subject of sharing with the
world, that has been the case for her since the days of selling mixtapes to her
high school mates, to making her debut EP Passionfruit Summers, working
with some of the topmost artistes in the world while growing a cult following,
gracing front row seats at fashion shows from London to Paris, charting on Billboard
and overall becoming Amaarae, one of the world’s most exciting artistes –
a rarity and an embodiment of authenticity and inspiration.
