Ghanaian global alt-pop star Amaarae has released the highly anticipated music video for her new single FTY, sending fans into a frenzy across social media. The artiste announced the video with a bold declaration“King of Accra. King of KSI. King of the whole Ghana.” signalling a powerful new era in her artistic expression.
The FTY visual is a highly stylised production featuring striking appearances from members of Ghana’s creative community, including Free The Youth Ghana, Kelly Kurlz, Joey Lit, Kwaku Maposh, and Famous2000. The video continues Amaarae’s tradition of blending high fashion, avant-garde movement and bold cinematography to create a world entirely her own.
The video was directed by Omar Jones, with Amaarae herself serving as co-creative director alongside Jenna Marsh. Movement direction was handled by Iktsch, with production executed by the acclaimed team at Studio Dream.
In her announcement, Amaarae expressed deep gratitude to Ghanaian music veterans Hammer and Deeba for clearing a sample used in the song. She praised Hammer as “one of the greatest producers of our nation.”
Alongside the video release, Amaarae confirmed that her Black Star Experience Show will take place on December 18 in Accra. Tickets for the highly anticipated event go on sale Friday, November 28. The show is expected to be one of the major entertainment highlights of December, bringing together fans from across the country and beyond.
With the release of FTY and the buildup to her December concert, Amaarae continues to solidify her position as one of Ghana’s most globally influential artistes.
